Honours Bursary

  • The Value of Honours Bursary Allowance: R24 000 per year
  • Students from current NWU students and students from other universities who were accepted for honours studies at the NWU in 2024.

Master’s Bursary

  • The Value of a Master Bursary comes into two forms, which are as follows
  • Full Time: R30 000 per year
  • Part-Time: R15 000 per year
  • The Master’s bursary is available only to students who register for a fully prescribed Master’s Degree at NWU.

Doctoral Bursary

  • The Value of a Doctoral Bursary also comes in two forms, which are as follows:
  • Full Time: R32 500 per year
  • Part-Time: R16 250 per year

NWU Bursary Requirements

To qualify for the NWU Bursary 2024, applicants must meet specific criteria:

  • The Candidate must be accepted to study any of the degrees at the Accredited institution in South Africa
  • The candidate needs to attach an academic record of the preceding qualifying degree if they got their initial degree outside of North-West University.
  • Candidates must have achieved a minimum average of 60% for all last year’s modules of the preceding qualifying master’s degree.
  • Part-time and/or working students can apply for a 50% allocation of the bursary.
  • Bursary holders must complete the Doctoral degree within a minimum grace period of five (5) years
  • Candidates, while pursuing their existing degree, can also apply for the Master’s Bursary
