Rhodes University (RU) online applications for the 2025 academic year, are now available for individuals interested in pursuing new undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications. The application window for RU runs from April 1st to September 30th 2024. All applicants, regardless of nationality or language, are encouraged to apply. Rhodes University is a public research university in Makhanda (Grahamstown) in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. It is one of four universities in the province. Rhodes University is the province’s oldest university. It is the sixth oldest South African university in continuous operation, It became a constituent college of the University of South Africa in 1918 before becoming an independent university in 1951.
Rhodes has six faculties, listed below:

- Law
- Science
- Education
- Pharmacy
The six faculties are further subdivided into 30 academic departments, of which 11 form part of the humanities faculty. The humanities faculty, being the largest in the university.
RU online application closing dates
RU online application window remains open from the 1st of April down to the 31st of September 2024. So prospective students who wish to be a part of the institution by 2025 should start applying, now that the institutions still accepts applications as no late application will be accepted.
RU online application process
RU online applications for 2025 require a fee of R100. the application process is given below.
- Visit https://ross.ru.ac.za/ on your internet browser
- Next, register using your email address and create a password
- An activation link will be forwarded to the email address
- Click on the link to activate your registration account
- This will redirect you to the ROSS website
- Here, you will need to select “Admission (not yet enrolled at Rhodes)”
- Thereafter, log in with your username and password
- Next, you will need to complete the application form
- Tick the button accepting the terms and conditions
- Click on “Submit”
- You will then need to pay the application fee (R100)
- You will then be able to submit your online application to Rhodes University
RU online application requirements
To qualify for degree studies at Rhodes University, learners must pass:
- English language at an achievement rating of 4 (50 – 59%) or above.
- At least four of the seven subjects must be from the list of recommended subject list set out below and students must have obtained an achievement rating of 4 (50 – 59%) or above.
- Meet Faculty requirements: subject requirements and percentage required.
