Sol Plaatje University (SPU) online applications for the 2025 academic year, are now available for individuals interested in pursuing new undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications. The application window for UFS runs from April 1st down to September 30th 2024. All applicants, regardless of nationality or language, are encouraged to apply. Sol Plaatje University (SPU) opened in 2014, the first of two new universities to be established in post-apartheid South Africa. It is also the first university to be established in the Northern Cape Province. SPU takes pride in the fact that it bears the name of Sol Plaatje, a visionary South African intellectual who embraced the values and ethos to which the University subscribes.
SPU online application closing dates
The management of Sol Plaatje University has made open its online application portal and also made it known to everyone that the period for this opening will be from the 20th of April down to the 31st of October. So prospective students who would like to be students of SPU by 2025 should start applying now as no late application will be accepted by the University.

SPU online application process
SPU online application being open, prospective students who do not have a clue on how to go on with their application process should not panic as this article will guide you through the entire process. Below is a step by step procedure on how to go on with your online application.
- no application fee is required during the course of your online application
- students must have a valid email address and use a computer/laptop with internet connectivity.
- click on APPLY HERE to go to the schools application website
- click on the prospective students icon and complete your online application
- note that areas marked with red * are compulsory and you need to fill them appropriately.
Applicants are also encouraged to download and read the Guidelines on how to apply document, so as to get additional insights before beginning the application process. For postgraduate programmes, please refer to page 12 of this document.
How to check my SPU online application status
After you have succeeded in applying to SPU, you should endeavour to check later on if your application has been reviewed and if a provisional admission has been offered to you. You will have to go through the below processes to do so.
- you will have to log back onto the online application system.
- On the left of your screen, click on “STUDENT ENQUIRY” located at the end of the list,
- then click on “Academic Admissions Status” to view the status of your application.
