SPU Online Application Requirements 2025

Sol Plaatje University (SPU) online applications for the 2025 academic year, are now available for individuals interested in pursuing new undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications. The application window for UFS runs from April 1st down to September 30th 2024. All applicants, regardless of nationality or language, are encouraged to apply. This article will guide you on how to have a smooth and successful online application.

Sol Plaatje University (SPU) opened in 2014, the first of two new universities to be established in post-apartheid South Africa. It is also the first university to be established in the Northern Cape Province. SPU takes pride in the fact that it bears the name of Sol Plaatje, a visionary South African intellectual who embraced the values and ethos to which the University subscribes.

SPU online application requirements

If you are currently in Grade 12, you need two documents to apply:
 A certified copy of your ID
 Final Grade 11 results
Should you have completed your Grade 12/matric, you need three documents to apply:
 An affidavit declaring that you have studied at another higher education institution
(university or college). If you never enrolled at a university or college since
completing high school, this must be declared in the affidavit.
 A certified copy of your ID
 Your final Grade 12 results
If you have studied at another institution, you will need:
 An official academic transcript and a certificate of conduct from your previous
college/university
 A certified copy of your ID
 Final Grade 12 results
In this case, you do not need an affidavit to apply.

What documents are required to apply for postgraduate studies?

If you are applying for a postgraduate programme,

1. you must submit the official academic transcript
2. a copy of the degree or diploma from your previous institution, together with a
   certified copy of your ID.
3. Some postgraduate programmes may require a letter of motivation to apply for study. Contact the postgraduate coordinator by using the below School’s email address to check whether or not this document is required.

Once you have obtained your evaluation documents from these two bodies, you are ready to start the application process. You will need the following documents to apply:

1. SAQA Evaluation Document
2. Matriculation Board Evaluation Document
3. School Leaving Results
4. Passport.
