The University of Cape Town (UCT) online applications for the 2025 academic year, are now available for individuals interested in pursuing new undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications. The application window for UCT runs from 2nd April to 31st July 2024. All applicants, regardless of nationality or language, are encouraged to apply.
The University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa’s oldest university Established in 1829. It is situated on the slopes of Table Mountain in Rondebosch and has commenced its admissions process, welcoming prospective students to apply for the 2025 academic year.
Before applying, students are advised to arrange the following:
- An email address for application completion.
- South African students should prepare their ID documents, while foreign students should have their passports ready.
- Ensure all documentation is scanned in accordance with the provided guidelines.
- Have exam results and proof of residence available.
What Is The Closing Date For UCT Online application
All online application for the University Of Cape Town (UCT) will end by 31st July 2024 and the institution will not accept any late application, so all prospective students should apply before the closing date.
How Much Is The UCT Online Application Fee
An application fee must be paid for every application. UCT students and graduates, as well as Semester Study Abroad (SSA) applicants, are exempt from the application fee unless applying to a Graduate School of Business (GSB) programme.
The relevant application fee should accompany all applications:

To submit your UCT Online application, you must carefully go through the following process;
- Go to the school website here www.uct.ac.za
- Click on “Application” then “Online Application”
- Select between undergraduate and postgraduate application
- Fill in the necessary information and submit the needed documents
- Submit your online application
How to track your online application
- Once you have applied, you can track your application status by going to the page you applied on
- Enter your log-in details which was given to you during the initial application process
- You’ll now be on the Student Centre page
- Click on ‘Admissions’
- Click on ‘Overall Application Status’
- This page will show your current Academic Application, Housing and Funding Application statuses.
- On the same page, you can confirm your admission offer.
University of Cape Town Admission Requirements
- Applicants holding a South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) need to pass a minimum of 4 subjects at a rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50-59%) or better in any four 20-credit NSC subjects.
- Applicants holding a South African Senior Certificate need matriculation endorsement.
- Applicants holding non-South African school-leaving certificates must qualify for a matriculation exemption certificate. For more information please visit the website of the Matriculation Board.
